An absolute shredder! This is a real - deal Japanese made Jackson Soloist, with a nice light body and neck thru construction. Paired with mahogany for the neck and body, it truly makes for a resonant guitar.
The fretboard feels super smooth, being ebony with a compound 14” to 16” radius, it clearly was made for speed. The passive EMGs sound nice, and are on the smoother side still with plenty of bite for lead. The string thru and t-o-m style bridge is refreshing, and simplifies adjustments and string changes, as well as provides excellent tuning stability.
This example comes in good structural shape, and is an absolute joy to play with string height around .040” at the 12th fret. It has seen some wear from over the years, with some finish issues on the top near the lower horn. This could probably be buffed to look a bit better, but with the satin finish isn’t super noticeable from on stage. There are a few other miscellaneous scuffs/finish imperfections/dings/etc from general use - the good ones get used the most! The tuners have been swapped for aftermarket locking units, which are a direct fit with no extra holes/marks on the back of the headstock. The frets show a bit of wear, but still have plenty of life - and overall this is a professional quality, stage ready instrument.
It has received a fresh setup with D’Addario 10.5-48s tuned to D standard.
If you’re looking for speed, this one is for you!
