Up for grabs is this beautiful *hard to find* Caribbean Blue tolex Supro Super! These little amps are widely regarded as the studio secret to 60s rock tone ala the Rolling Stones, and this one absolutely delivers! With about 5w of class A 6V6 power, a single volume control, and an old school Jensen, you really can’t make this amp sound bad. All the more cool is the neat blue tolex; this amp is a real eye catcher and looks even cooler in person!

This one comes in nice, highly original shape - with all original components. What look to be the original RCA 6V6 power tube and 5Y3 rectifier are present and in good working order. I was on the fence about recapping this one, but the voltages check out, the capacitors measure OK, and with how great it sounds being all original I felt it would be a bit of a shame - or at least a decision to leave to its next owner. I have checked it out quite thoroughly, cleaned the tube sockets/jacks/switch/etc and everything is in good order. Both of the transformers date to January of ‘65, with the rest of the components dating throughout ‘64. The only thing that is not original on this amplifier is the preamp tube, which is a newer Electro Harmonix 12AX7.

Cosmetically it is in nice shape for its age, with a bit of splitting of the tolex around corners, some pulls to the grill cloth, some miscellaneous marks throughout. It could be scrubbed to make it look a bit cleaner if that’s your jam, as I’ve only dusted it gently with a brush; personally I think the amp has just the right amount of mojo as it sits. The original 2 prong power cable is present, and is in good shape with no fraying or splits. There is a very small tear on the speakers cone near the foam, as seen in the photo - it doesn’t impact the way the speaker sounds and in my opinion, isn’t worth losing the Jensens’ original cone.

This one would make a fantastic studio amp, it breaks up in the nicest way at relatively low volume, with a surprising amount of bottom end. That said, it is also loud enough to jam with in a small bar environment, and would mic quite well in larger settings. These small Supro amps always impress me whenever they roll through, and this one is exemplary!

Please feel free to ask any questions! I do not take returns on vintage amplifiers, however it will be packaged well and insured with Safe Shipping for transport.
